Good night everyone, its a day to remember for the punctures for whatever reason at the end. Shows that however fast a team is a simple deflation can alter the way the race is expected to finish, with ups and downs.Just looking at those stiff sidewalls supporting the car makes having a blowout much safer than before.

Hi my friend ! Glad to see you back on here. How are you ?

CF shards ? I'm not so sure about that .
Seems to start with a sort of profile on the tires followed by extreme delamination and the rubber compond layer comes off with a complete puncture from the side wall of the tire .
Same wear profile is also visible on the rear tires when they are shot .

As you can see : Actually he got it on both of his front tires..

2 podiums in 4 races with an under performing car and subpar management. Charles is having a great season so far.

Somebody must have thought about this already so there must be a reason why its not done. Serious question. Why isn't there at least one battery powered leaf blower at each marshal station? It seems it would be a great assist out there to all those dudes with brooms.

I thought it was so odd when they showed one of the track workers picking up bits and pieces and trying to hold all the debris in his arms. There is no broom or blower? Very strange.

You are the F1 professor to establish what really is my friend and shows there is a flaw in their das with overuse of the push/pull.
Roll on the softer tyres for the scorching next weekend!

That was Elkann Saying that. I can't think If why he would say that. 2022 cars are more aerodynamically demanding than the cars we have now and from the looks of it Ferrari's aero aren't on the top of their game.
Good news for my boy Seb getting a fist bump from daddy Stroll before the race then leaving the circuit in Otmar's red Ferrari and having his trainer driver his blue Ferrari back to the hotel.

seems like the tire failures on McLaren and Mercs they re thinking that it might caused by Raikkonen's wing failure.. makes sense cause even Red Bull says few laps old Max's recent set of tires had around 50 cuts on them..

Hi guys!

Thanks for the welcome back...been missing everyone!!

The fact that so many tires failed at in the fashion they failed, lends me to believe it was CF shards which are sharp as glass!! I remember doing fracture tests on samples back in the day and we were shocked how sharp the remnants could be.

I'm really interested in seeing the results from the analyses!!

Crazy race yesterday and looking forward to many more!!

Cheers-mk

LONDON (Reuters) - Former Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn has hailed Lewis Hamilton's British Grand Prix win, on three wheels and a flat tyre, as 'absolutely mind-blowing'.

Hamilton's front left deflated on the last lap while leading Sunday's race, leaving the six-times Formula One champion 3.8km from the finish with Red Bull's Max Verstappen chasing hard after pitting for fresh soft tyres.

Data provided by Mercedes showed Hamilton completed the final lap only 22 seconds slower than he had raced the previous one.

He went through the high-speed Copse and Stowe corners with the puncture at 141kph and 133kph respectively and reached 230kph on the Hangar Straight with the front tyre already destroyed.

"Lewis's race looked a cakewalk until the last lap of the race. It wasn't of course, because he was driving superbly for the whole of the race," said Brawn, Formula One's managing director for motorsport.

"He reached 230kph on the straight with only three wheels, and a front left tyre flailing around -- absolutely mind blowing.

"He judged it to perfection to win the race by a few seconds and a brilliant example of the amazing talents and bravery of Lewis."

Pirelli are conducting an investigation into what happened, and whether sharp debris or wear was to blame, with Hamilton's team mate Valtteri Bottas and McLaren's Carlos Sainz also suffering late failures.

"Circuit Tyre Demands"

No two ways about it, Silverstone places enormous demands on the tyres of a modern F1 car, the left-front in particular. Long-duration, high-speed corners, several of them literally flat-out in these cars with downforce levels that smother even the 1,022 HP from the Mercedes, make it the highest-energy track of all for the tyres.

The loads square with speed. The year-on-year gains invariably add speed. This year’s Merc was, for example, 11km/h faster at the apex of Copse than last year’s. Replicate that around Maggotts/Becketts, Abbey, into Stowe – and you begin to get an idea of how a tyre that was fine last year might not be this year.

And yes we read this well , the Merc is pushed by "1,022 HP" and the tyres suffer under the extra friction when DAS is used ...

well tyre wear helps for punctures etc but what was the reason for McLaren's same tire problem mate without DAS?

Well mate in 3 words : "Silverstone"/"More HP"/"Higher track temps"

To be sure of my statement : We/I will see that next weekend with even higher Silverstone track temps.
Over here in Belgium , a tropical heatwave is coming !

I need rain ASAP !

EDIT : + This....
