Bought a 99' 528i Touring from a shop!
Hey all! Just bought a 528i touring that’s been sitting for 5+ years at the shop I work at and I hope to bring it back to life and daily it. Sold it to me for $500usd! I’m a entry level mechanic and never had a project car so this will be fun!
My shop says original motor blew so they put in another m52 single vanos. Not exactly sure the miles. P/S leaks and couldn’t keep the engine running without starter fluid. I’m gonna change the oil, spark plugs, battery, fuel pump + filter, and power steering pump+hoses+pully. Hopefully it’ll start so I can drive it home at least. Kinda wanna get it running at least so I can register it. Then I’ll change out all the other fluids(transmission, coolant, brake, diff). Any E39 tips are greatly appreciated!! |

Find a Bentley Service Manual for e39. Hard copy or PDF version.
Expensive to buy new. You should be able to get a used one for cheap. (No, mine is not for sale😎 Being newer to wrenching, it will be your Bible for these cars. Reduces throwing parts at a problem. |
