Thoughts and Prayers Needed

Wife and I were at a movie the a few evenings ago and started to get texts from my wife's father and brother saying to call them ASAP. Her mother had an extreme dizzy spell that was so bad she agreed to get checked out at the local ER (she HATES anything medical so that wasn't a good sign in itself).

They proceeded in doing a catscan (even though she doesn't have cats j/k) which showed a pretty decent sized mass and swelling in her brain. She was immediately transported to the trauma hospital. They know now it's cancer but unsure what type until removed. Thankfully all imaging shows a clean sweep in the rest of the body, we'll take it! They already have her scheduled for surgery on Monday and they are keeping her until after then. They are shocked she hasn't had seizures (which they are pushing meds for since it should be happening) or more symptoms as it's a fairly large size. I'm just thankful we are home as we had just gotten back from across the country, my wife would have been sick.

Just goes to show, one day everything seems fine and the next pure chaos. She just retired and this is going to severely cut into her plans. Especially since after surgery they will still be doing chemo as well. I know we don't talk religion here but she could really use your prayers.

I'm hopeful that the doctors will be able to remove the mass and that treatment will be swift. I'm happy to hear that your wife's mother's scan was clean, too, that's great news.

Any time my phone blows up like that I always fear the worst. Several missed calls in a row trigger a negative response in me.

I know what he means. We don't know how God's plans work. No matter what happens we need to still trust in him. I've had times when I don't understand why something happens but in the end it works out. Unfortunately there are times when it doesn't work out but it's not my job to question why.

Sometimes our own decisions determine what happens, we still have free will and have to live with the consequences of our choices. (Even non religious views this is true) But God is compassionate and will still give us redemption if we are willing to ask for it. This life is just a flash, I've made plenty of horrible decisions but I'm thankful for his forgiveness. My great grandmother was an amazing believer and literally died with a smile on her face and the Bible in her lap, I want that.

This is all I will say on this as I don't want to get the thread shut.

Damn... yeah life sucks sometimes. I don't do the prayer stuff but I do hope all goes well mate. We have great medical technology in 2023 and when it's found early before it goes everywhere it tends to go well! Wishing for a good surgery and recovery!
