Deodorant: does the perfect one exist?

So this is a product that when I go to the store to purchase, it takes me FOREVER to pick one out. I'm very picky on the smell and texture - old spice scent is all the same for every stick practically and gel makes me sweat even more for some reason.

So why has no company found a way to market a descent product that actually works and isn't just some combination of chemicals in stick form? I tried the new "Art of Sport" that supposedly partnered with Lebron James or some basketball star to create a deodorant that actually works. It didn't smell awful and the texture seemed like it wouldn't irritate the skin after too many uses, but it definitely did not keep my pits from stinking throughout the day. I was hoping for something that actually had some thought put behind it but was sadly letdown.

Now I'm in search of a new deodorant that I can use and rely on for a long time. Does anyone have any suggestions or specific brands that don't leave your pits chaffing or smelling like they were drenched in aqua velvet?

More people like me and Old Spice would be out of business.

Right Guard works best for me. I use the antiperspirant/deodorant gel. Just a little goes a long way, and does not leave any stain or residue on clothing. Even better is my wife likes the smell (either Arctic Fresh or Fresh Blast); I think it turns her on.

Mitchum gel. Strongest friggin deodorant ever made. Their slogan used to be so effective you can skip a day. I won't use anything else.

Reminds me of my girlfriend and "her" shower which is filled with 800 different bottles of shampoo, conditioner etc. Me I use whatever I'm given. Is it shampoo? Good enough.

I was using doves men deodorant for a while. I think the main reason was I saw it on amazon and I can't be bothered going to the store. It smelled good so I just kept reordering the same stuff. While traveling I ran out and had to go to the store to get some... I saw the price compared to other stuff. Now I'm using some degree something or the other, was half the price for a 2 pack. Can't tell the difference.

This is one I haven't tried. I think I may just go on amazon and order a bunch to do a test trial and send the ones back I don't like. Some unlucky sob will likely get my returned stick with some pube-like hairs stuck to it. Brilliant.

When I use deodorant I use Right Guard Sport (gel)
I rarely use deodorant bc I don't sweat much. Lasts at least 1.5 years.

I only use deo at off duty and there Nivea Ultimate Protect.
On duty almost a deo stick, lasts more longer either Rexona Cobalt Dry or HOLD IT! Old Spice Swagger, bought it last year into a CVS in San Diego.

I make my own with coconut oil, corn starch, and baking soda. No chemicals, aluminum and it works amazingly well
