Considering PCD - do it!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
After being thwarted by Hurricane Helene, and almost Milton, the folks at PCD were able to make my delivery happen on October 11th. And a huge shout out to Seth and Justin at PCD, Clint on the track training, Elisia on the factory tour, and Stan on personalized delivery. These are all people who were getting through the aftermath of a major hurricane and were still there to make us feel so special for our deliveries.

Everything about PCD is special, from the morning introduction to the track. If you're up to it you take an M3 out on the polished concrete and wet skid pad, turn off DSC and spin that thing out. What a blast, But then you turn the safety features back on and do it again, and push it, and you stay in control. Amazing. Several rounds of learning how to properly use ABS, followed by 8 slalom runs learning that your car actually does go where your eyes are, and if you look at the cones, you hit them.

The X5 off road course is a blast. Even if only 1% of X5 owners will ever push it to those limits.

Factory tour, the Zentrum, the gourmet lunch and then your personalized delivery. If you've ever had a dealership "genius" explain your car to you - leave that behind. This is the most thorough intro to your new BMW you will ever have. This is my 5th Bimmer, and I still learned a lot.

I drove my new X6 M60i home to Florida and loved every minute of it. Also a shout out to Vlad at Upstate Auto Detailing in Spartanburg, who put a 3 year ceramic coating on my car overnight before I left Spartanburg. Highly recommend.

Finally, Jon Shafer and Matt Corea at BMW Santa Maria, who made sure we made it through the whole hurricane issues and Florida DMV issues.

Tanzanite over Oyster. Definitely recommend the Driving Assistant Pro package. It is a game changer. Fully automated driving highway driving, even in stop and go traffic. But you can still step on it when needed, and it comes back to the system.

What were the things that specifically drew you to the x6? I’d be interested to understand your thoughts and perspectives in choosing this over something else in the BMW line up.

It's Performance Center Delivery. Definitely the most fun way to take delivery of a new BMW, though I do still miss the European Delivery.

My experience was similar. I enjoyed all of it, except being hit on by some random guy at the hotel.

I've done PCD four times (euro delivery 2x) and will do it every time.
  • It costs you nothing extra, except flight
  • They pick you up at airport
  • They give you hotel with dinner and breakfast
  • They give youvlunch at pcd
  • You get favtory tour
  • You get a few hours of track instruction in a car that is like yours, but not yours
  • You get to do the x5 offroad
  • You get to go to gift shop where they have pcd only swag
  • Did i forget to mention its free?

Then you drive home and make a nice drive event.

I really recommend it to anyone who can spare the time.

If you are having a hard time finding a dealership which will 1) give you a good price (well under msrp) and 2) doesn't know how to setup pcd (shocking, but its true, some don't) then PM me. I know a great sales manager who is attentive, doesn't lie and gives great deals.

With PCD you can go to any dealership, not just your local, as you are picking up at pcd

It's changed a lot.
I think you get a ride from the hotel or airport and lunch. No more overnights.
Bummer as it was offered when I was going to pick up the M2 when it was first released but now I get the lesser version. And no more European delivery at all 😭

Four times? Serious fun times four - undoubtably. Wish BMW had PCD center on the West Coast.

Wait, no free hotel? Last pcd was almost 3 years for me (did 2 in one month).. Sucks they took away hotel and ride from airport.

Still, worth it.

And no more ED makes baby jesus cry

2012 335 ed and pcd, 2016 m3 ed and pcd, 2022 m340 and x3 pcd (did them a month apart).
I love every minute of it
