Well said. I feel like the "thrill of driving" has been largely lost to which car has the best acceleration, power, and lap stats.

There is really something to be said for a car that you somewhat safely hustle at 7/10ths+ on a B road and even have fun on your 3 mile jaunt to grab a coffee at legal speeds while mildly driving a bit like an a-hole. If every time you get in the car, the drive is an "experience" then you know you've found the right car, IMO.

Sub-12 second acceleration with a street car is such a waste, IMO. You can never really use it. My M235 is a high 12 second car and I can't even wind out 3rd unless I want to risk a serious ticket or worse. Sure, it's nice to have power and torque in reserve, but it's lost it's luster when the car roasts the tires in 1st, will often light them up in 2nd from a 4000rpm roll (somewhat amusing), and I can't wind out 3rd to the 7000rpm redline without nearing 110mph. I rarely take the car over 5000rpms and it's real power is between 4500-6500rpms and that assumes I've got my foot buried in the loud pedal to develop max boost.
