On that same point, RB has to approaching budget restrictions, but would they throw everything at Max’s RB20 and leave Checo’s RB20 as is or as a test car for any upgrades to keep Max as competitive to Lando? Last edited by TheBingoBalls; Today at 09:00 AM.. |

If Lando can manage his starts, assuming he qualifies for the front row, he just needs to let his car do all the work and manage his race because the MCL 38 allows him to do that - there’s nothing on the grid, driver + car, that can really compete with. But that’s a huge IF.

Dan got the FL thank goodness so the gap is 51 points to LAN, disappointed with Checo more and more AND this is a street circuit.

Can be a hit or a miss . It's like a shot in the dark
IMHO . I don't think that Red Bull can close a 30 sec. race gap to the McLaren Papaya bullet .. In some laps Lando was 1 sec. faster (!)

And indeed we don't know if RB is gonna bring meaningful upgrades, but as they don't fully understand their car's imbalance, I think all upgrades are partly shots in the dark. McLaren have 2 vastly superior cars and 2 competent drivers, so I think there will be races where they get 1-2's (with obviously Lando 1st), and Max just can't fight that. The McLaren is just fast on every track. PIA today didn't came 2nd because he made mistakes. Mistakes in qualifying and mistakes at the start. Not because he was too slow in general.

I wouldn't worry about it.
The Mclaren gap was expected as Redbull worst track was Singapore. However on traditional tracks like COTA, we will see max fight lando in an upgraded car, and they seemed to figure out how to make that RBR car turn and be more comfortable with max. Baku showed us that Mclaren isn't unstoppable, and it's the same car for singapore. This race was a win for RBR, huge win. They only lost 7 points when they were expected to lose 10+ Now lando needs more than 10 points a race to win the WDC. They lost a total of 10 points over 2 races, and we might see Mercedes and Ferrari competitive with their upgrades at COTA. |
