I'll say there are several games that take a 4090 to get to 144hz in HDR and maintain the framerate, and that's even without ray tracing. If you don't play demanding games or care about framerates, the 4090 isn't for you. The 4090 is about 2x the performance over the 3080 and it's obvious. Plus, I can finally play Quake 2 RTX at around 130-140fps with HDR
I've been closely monitoring 4090 real world benchmarks...for me, I mostly play simulation games like DCS, Project Cars, MS Flight Sim, etc. in VR and I too use the EVGA FTW Ultra 3080 (10 gb model). Apparently, the 4090 is turning in unbelievable performance in VR, especially on higher end VR headsets like the HP Reverb G2 (which is what I use). I also recently upgraded to an I7-12700K CPU, but see that the new I7-13700K is a killer gaming CPU.

And yes, I knew the raptor line was coming out when I upgraded, but I had to due to a failed system. Bad timing for that to happen....good news is, if/when I decide to upgrade, that CPU works with the Z690 platform.

Guess I'll wait until it comes in stock, I won't pay scalper pricing now....
