That's pretty much me with a few additions:
* I drive 'em home, do a strip wash & panel wipe, then put on a decent sealant. I typically don't do a resin-based coating since I know I'm going to want to polish in 12-18 months
* I do a paint enhancement polish with a Rupes yellow & white
With my current vehicle, after 15 months I had very fine marring you couldn't really see in the Sun, but you could under shop lights. A light polish easily removed all of them.
I even had a pretty gnarly V scratch on my bumper that came out almost totally with a just a few extra passes of a Rupes yellow foam pad.
