Many years ago, I worked in Tokyo and Osaka for seven months. The day trip to Nara from Osaka is beautiful, it's about a 45 minute train ride and the Temple is amazing. You can make a small climb up to a beautiful vista, I'll attach a shot of the Temple below. I also had a project near Mt.Fuji, it's surrounded by lakes and waterfalls and is quite majestic. Please pardon the disposable camera shots, I hadn't started my photo career at that time.
