How long have you had the speakers on? All of the edginess and boominess could simply be the speakers needing to break in. I've had a few speakers sound like crap before breaking in. Maybe if this is your eval right after install, you could report back after the speakers have had a few weeks to let us know if it all sounds the same or not.
