The last part is a semantics argument. Hiram Maxim, the first one to design and build a suppressor called it a silencer. I tend to go with the term "suppressor", since it seems more appropriate given the performance of the suppressor. But the instructions for ATF Form 4 call it a silencer, and many use the two terms interchangably. I don't get hung on up it myself.
Now when someone uses the word "clip" when they really mean "magazine", I want to bust knuckles!
