This has to be hinting at incorporating CFRP into the chassis. They can't do that with separate platforms because of the costs but if we're talking about one platform it's much more feasible. Other than that, not sure what the goal would be. At least we know it's something that needs to be done if Mercedes is also cutting down on platforms.
