You know what the biggest disappointment is when you start something from the beginning? When you hand over the reigns to that entity and it's run into the ground and eventually closes down or is shut down. BMW is still active in racing at different levels and it still makes M street cars. What people seem to forget is that even an M4 GTS isn't an actual race car---it's trackable car for sure, but certainly not a legit race car. Once you realize that M street cars are in fact street cars to the core, you start to realize how close minded it is to not offer a M version of a SUV. And if it puts more money in BMWs pocket to continue offering the things you actually like, you realize how brilliant that plan actually is.

A couple of yrs ago I drove an F80 comp on the track and thought it was fantastic---in stock form. Really nice to drive in that setting. Isn't that the pinnacle of what an M car should be? You don't want an M SUV, don't buy one. Pretty simple.
