How's COD4...I'm planning to get that, is it like counter strike?
COD4 is nice. Good graphics, nice story and gameplay. I almost skipped it cos I wasn't too thrilled with COD3 but once I played my bro's copy I liked it. I think Counter Strike is faster paced... COD4's speed seems comparable to Rainbow 6 Vegas.

As for Halo 3 tips, check this site out... bunch of different pointers / articles in one spot: http://halowiki.net/

Another guide is here... written during Halo 2's time, but still applicable: http://nikon.bungie.org/gameplay/stratguide/

Give them a read when you have time!

Apart from those here are some quick basic pointers:
  • RADAR! It's extremely important to learn how to "read" this. Once you're familiar with the maps using the radar can pretty much tell you where your opponents are, above you, below you, in the next room etc.
  • CROUCHING + RADAR: also very important, both to use and recognize when it's being used. If you press down on the left analog stick you crouch... if you walk while crouching (aka "crouch walking") you disappear from the radar. So if you want to sneak up on someone it's usually a good idea to do this till you're ready to take them on. Equally important is to realize when someone disappears from your radar suddenly but you know they didn't die (your teammates aren't fighting etc.) - chances are they're crouch walking to take you by surprise, so be aware not to walk around the corner unprepared.
  • Learn to "strafe" while shooting. This is vital... strafing means walking from side to side and varying your movements back and forth (there are different styles, some are short, some longer)... that way when someone tries to target you they don't have a stationary target.
  • Shoot where someone is going to be (walking towards)... anticipate where they're headed... shoot there (or be ready to shoot there) or toss a 'nade ahead so they walk right into it.
  • Know your style... are you good with vehicles, good close range, far range etc.? Play the way you're comfortable with. Play in the social playlists to "test" your other skills and improve on them... don't "test" things out in a ranked playlist since they're more competitive and cos they're... ranked!
  • If you notice a player playing phenomenally, whether on your team or the other team, you can always go to Theater mode and view your last game... upto 25 of your last games are accessible (you can also save them if you want, for that extra special game). Press up/down on your controller to scroll through the players and watch that good player play and learn from their movements.
  • When you die you can choose to just sit and wait while you watch the respawn counter, or you can also press up/down and cycle through your teammates. It might help to see what they're doing, what they're facing etc. so you have a better idea of what's going on on the map once you respawn.

Wow I wrote more than I expected
