If you decide to go a bit older, the 996 911 is trading pretty low right now. I'm not the biggest fan of the frog-eye aesthetic but they're undoubtably one of the best deals out there.

Probably not going to find a 981 Cayman S for under $35k without having a ton of miles or bad damage/salvage history. Anything decent is going to be $40k+. A 2013 Boxster S might be workable in that price range though. 987 generation is going to be a better target at that price point.
