So in 2017 my gf quit her job, I sold both cars I had at the time and bought an F150 and a travel trailer and we spent roughly half the year every year until 2020 traveling around the country.
I could take care of important stuff in the morning if there was anything then spend the day exploring and do other work stuff at night. It worked out great and my gfs job ended up paying her more than her salary to also work as a part time consultant from the road.
While I am not retired I would be very happing doing what I do now for a looong time. I would also have no problem not working at all. I'm rarely bored and can always find something to do.

That does sound nice... although not sure it's feasible for us to do with kids. Maybe in another 17 years when they're both off to college.
