my 2 cents

please stop posting published reviews verbatim.

i have both and the d7000 has great new functions like custom shooting settings and slightly better image quality. love the new technology they put into this design. that said, it is a prosumer model. even though they're both weather-sealed the d7000 is plastic in the middle and slightly smaller than the d300s.

whyrms is right that the d300s has a better build. it's magnesium alloy and still takes really, really good pictures. i don't think you're going to look at the images and go, "aw, how dissappointing. should've gone with the d7000."

the d7000 records at 1080p, better than 720p but i don't even take that into consideration. if you want to shoot videos with your dslr, go canon all the way.

lastly, the functions, buttons and things are all different on the d7000 and d300s. (well, not all of them, but you'd be surprised). i recommend you play with them both and see which one you're more comfortable with.
