I only go to "Wide Tracking" (it may be "Lock-On" with the Rx10) for birds against a clear sky. My default seems to be "Center Tracking". If you use "Flexible Point Tracking", then you need to recenter by hitting the joy stick; otherwise, the AF point may be on the edge of the EVF, where you just finished tracking something. All that's with the a9 and a7RIII, but I think that the Rx10 is similar. Ed has the Rx10, so he'll probably contribute.

Try Center Tracking for starters. The Sony menu provides lots of adaptability, but also, plenty of ways to screw up.
