on brand new hot items sometimes they will make you jump through hoops since demand outweighs supply. like when the F8 or F8 spider first got announced. but now that they've been out a while the demand has fizzled so you can just walk in and order.
the ownership history thing and selection process only comes into play with the very rare limited stuff like the TDF, Pista, or LaFerrari.
