Its not Sony. It is every camera that is newer than the current version of software. The exact same happens when Canon and Nikon release a new camera.
While they all are called CR2 or NEF files, but, they are not compiled exactly the same way, every camera model is a bit different. And manufactures do not give out a roadmap to software companies. They have to decode it themselves. And they are not shipped a body early. They have to buy one on release day, then, work on creating the algorithm that works. it all takes time.
