I've run against a friend with a STi in my old SLK55. From what I remember, he would destroy me at launch but once at 60-80mph, I would pull. I don't think they're geared for top speed at all. Again, thats from what I remember. Could be wrong.
Lance, I think you've summed it up very well. I was very close to buying a STi but couldn't get past the 'economy car' feel of the interior dash etc. Seats were nice though.
