The new Quattro has a rear "sport" differential that allows for torque vectoring between the rear wheels, currently only available on the X6 as Dynamic Performance Control. It's features like these that will force BMW to trickle down the technology to the 3 series and up the ante again once the next gen 3er comes to market.

All in all, the new S4 looks pretty promising. Once they get the "Build Your Own" feature up and running, we can see what options there are and how the price will turn out.
Exactly. Competition from Audi in performance and pricing is excellent news for BMW enthusiasts as it should force BMW to offer better technology and better prices in its future vehicles. Of course, people with current top-of-the-line price/performance cars like the 335i will no longer be able to claim superiority, but that's just the way it works. And the S4's superior lap times, DCT, and other tech doesn't necessarily make it a more fun car than the RWD 335i. People need to learn to enjoy what they have instead of basing their happiness on having something "better" than others.
