I consider it a bargain. It's hard to believe that the Series II versions are almost two-stops better. I've already hand held 700mm down to 1/60-sec. with sharp results.

Here's another thing to consider. When you get up to the 500mm and 600mm, a good tripod/head/gimbal combination is going to set you back $1000 or so. I spent $1200 on my Induro/Arca-Swiss/Wimberley-Sidekick combination.

I don't use my tripod near as much as I used to, but it was sure nice when I was shooting the moon last weekend. That moon shot has over 5,700 views.
