Definitely sounds like interrupting, (or just completing) a typical active DPF regeneration.
Exhaust gas temperature is increased for the burn off. This will also elevate the engine coolant temperature, but will likely have less affect on the oil temperature, as it is of shortish duration and also be regulated by the oil cooler.
Always wise to check the coolant level, when cooled down, to ensure there isn't an issue.
