It was a similar feel to the swap of the M5 and the R8... I only owned the M6 and M5 concurrently for a short time but I found myself make more comparos with those two cars.

The M6 vs the R8: The M still more comfortable and a more usable daily of course. Handling the R8 owns it- hands down but like you said apples and oranges. I did some heavy mods on the R8 including exhaust, tcu, and ecu mods. The car had about 45 awhp (this is a lot in awd) and it pulled strong from a dig even into triple digit speeds (140+). I would never ever own an R8 as my only car but I would 100% own an M6 as the solo driver.

The M6 vs the M5: I found the M6 to be faster and had better driving dynamics. While the engines are the same the car was just more confident to push thru the turns at higher speeds and the pulls from 60-160 were incredibly awesome. I kept my M6 for more than a year which says a lot.
