Two very different formats of combat sports. Boxing is a very technical sport. MMA is as well. You could see from the fight, Mcgregor could fight, but lacked the technical skills of a boxer. In close range, he had zero pop. He doesn't know how to leverage and load up his punches at close range, whereas in MMA, he fights at distance (obviously, as it's a more dangerous form of fighting, smaller gloves, exponentially more ways to potentially lose a fight). Floyd felt 'his power,' and wasn't worried. He knew he wouldn't get hurt, so his plan to keep coming forward and make him uncomfortable would work.

Mcgregor did great to accept a style of fighting he really had not much experience in. I don't think he would ever make it as a boxer. Boxers train for 10-15+ years before they even get to a competitive level to make it as a pro. And let's face it, Floyd fights with his hands only with big gloves, legal hitting areas are waist up, and fights according to a specific set of rules. If he fought according to MMA rules, he would get killed in under 2 min, as he has zero experience in this form of fighting.

And that stoppage saved him from a dangerous outcome. He put the referee in a position to make a decision, particularly when th ref was already biased against him due to his lack of boxing experience.

Great fight. Can't wait for GGG/Canelo!!
