The mystique of a certain geographic location as a contributor to vehicle quality hasn't lived up to its promise. For example, F30 vehicles built in South Africa have been very reliable. Vehicle quality is a complex equation where the quality of parts plays a bigger role.
Plant Spartanburg has known quality issues for years. Multiple BMW AG employees have told me in Germany that all German market SUV's have an other inspection at Plant Dingolfing prior to shipment to local dealership. I wouldn't buy a M Mexican manufacturered.
That's probably just post-port inspection. EU-assembled vehicles have the same kind of quality inspections when they arrive at port in the USA.

The snobbery with final assembly is real in this thread. My old E90 328i assembled in South Africa was reliable and never had quality issues.

That being said, I do think BMW should continue to offer European delivery as an experience if a customer wants to do that for a model that's assembled in the EU.
