BMW figured right. They sell a lot of them, including the one they sold to me. I love the look of the car and I am not interested at all in the obscene power of an M3. There was a market need and BMW filled it.

BTW, BMW's been doing this for many years. I had a 2003 540i with M-Tech package. Looked very much like an M5 without the trunk spoiler and exhaust. It had a few m badges, but correctly no M5 badge anywhere.

All volume production manufacturers do this. If you want something truly rare, you are going to have to spend several times more than an M4 to get it.
