My first was an '01 X5 4.4i. I had a '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V8 that spent more time on a lift than under my butt. The dealer didn't do the right thing, it was basically a lemon but didn't have the same exact issue three times. I spent over 200 days in service over the course of two years. I told the dealer to get me out of it and into a new one. They wanted to roll the remaining payments into the new one. I was having none of that. It's not that I wanted a newer model, I just wanted one without issues.
The dealer told me they couldn't do anything, call Chrysler. Chrysler wouldn't do anything. After a beautifully written letter to the Attorney General, Chrysler not only got me out of my lease, they gave me $10,000. I grabbed the X5 off the lot and never looked back. Had the Jeep dealer or Chrysler done the right thing when I asked them, I would have been a loyal Jeep owner forever. I thank Chrysler every day. I'm now on my 7th BMW.
