Well, it's just not very interesting. When a bird is just flying against a blue sky it's tough to make it seem super. Usually you'll try to really get close so, at least, the viewer can see lots of details. If you had one gull trying to steal from the other, then this kind of open shot can work. It also works when you can show environment, but this open sky is just kind of plain.
