I waited for the 2010 model year to buy my E92 coupe. There were plenty of firmware issues still - affecting the transmission, radio and engine. I now have 150,000 kilometers on the E92 and the computer is still a bit flaky - the engine light goes on for no apparent reason, twice it has gone to limp-home mode - although the transmission and radio are now fine. I'm concerned not only about the prevalence of such problems, but also BMW's refusal to take ownership of known issues.
