Related topic: After 55 years driving in CA and FL, I sometimes struggle with the first (manual) shift in cold weather. Shifting "normally," I grind first to second quite often -- maybe 10 times so far this winter, my first in a snowy climate. Gear oil is obviously thick as molassas in Saskatoon. If I shift slowly, deliberately, no problem. Old habits die hard. I'm hoping my gearbox doesn't die early.
