I've always done what someone else mentioned and started the car, did the seat belt, turn on the radio, and then go, going easy on it until it warms up a little. I was taught that the sooner the engine goes above idle speed when it is cold, the quicker the oil gets to the places where it has settled from while sitting. Everyone has their own beliefs, but I have a 4Runner with 250,000 miles and I have never had to add oil between changes, and have other cars with similar results, so I must be doing something right.
