Well, I assume you take at least one local trip a year. You can book a hotel, flight, car rental, etc., and use up the $300 annual credit. Then you get 10,000 points annually, which at a minimum is $100 if you decide to cash it out. If you transfer to hotels or flights, then it’s worth more.

As noted in the post above, the VX card is more straightforward and easy to use. You get 2x points on everything. Even if you don’t travel much, those points convert into cash or you can use them to book travel for someone else. I’m considering keeping it and getting rid of the Chase Reserve before it renews later this year.
