Tell him it`s broken when he asks you if he can borrow it. I`ve lend out power tools and garden tools to friends, family and neighbors and they almost always come back broken or smelling like they are about to burn out. Which they do 99% of the time the next time I go to use them. I never forget, I borrowed a sander from a family member about 30 years ago when I was redoing the hardwood floors on my first house, and it already smelled like it was on it`s last legs, the thing burned out the first day, and I had to buy him a brand new one, from then on I bought my own power tools and lawn equipment. I never borrowed any power tools from anyone else anymore, I figure it`s cheaper to buy my own instead of borrowing it and then I have to return a brand new one which I could`ve had for myself. I lend everything out also, but the last 2 times they came back broken, so now I just say it`s broken when someone that I don`t know well ask to borrow something, good luck.
