A look at the history of drivers that have teamed with Max is a list of short stints and team mate failures.
Daniil Kvyat
Carlos SAINZ
Daniel Ricciardo
Pierre Gasly
Alex ALBON
Sergio Pérez

When Max is the number one and the car construction and set up is tailored for his aggressive driving style, It is very hard to for other drivers to deal with the handing. Max prefers a car that is rear limited (oversteer) Most drivers are more comfortable with front limited (understeer) This is likely why Daniel Ricciardo and Alex Albon had a harder time copping. Too bad Kimi Raikkonen was never Max's team mate. beginning this season (Bahrain & Saudi Arabia) the car was more to Cheko's liking and Max had a harder time. The car was developed in Max's direction.
Horner knows what he has and it is team in as much harmony as a Formula one team can be in. In a year or two he will have to put young talent in to develop a replacement for Max but this is not that year.
