I actually broke down and bought the 400 5.6 today. I did not like the push pull zoom of the 100-400 and it is far too fat of a lens for the T2i. Once I step up to a 7 or 5D with a grip I may end up with the 100-400 when I know I will need the range and the IS. I hope the 400 5.6 is not the last lens I will buy.

Here is another 400 5.6 shot done on a tripod of course and 70% crop I think. there was some haze or thin clouds causing the glow.
