ease of use, and a far more friendly RAW editing program plus good photo organization as it can import from your camera and just put it in folders for you.

photoshop is good for the post processing and editing the photo, but lightroom is good for checking proper white balance and adjusting the curves etc without having to know the ins and outs of a much larger robust program
