A flat six is also a whole other ball game. A larger displacement V6 would be so unrefined especially if they were building it for lower tier applications. Also, I can't imagine what else they would put it in. I think this engine was the most logical choice to get to/past the golden 400hp mark, and still have it make sense in other vehicles in their lineup.
