If you get to Napa, go in person. It's really special. I've lived in the Bay Area for years I've been lucky enough to visit several wineries. Rombauer is special both in physical setting for the winery and for their consistent production of really great wines, regardless of variety.
Here's a test. Go to your favorite wine shop. Get a bottle of 2017 Zinfandel and a bottle of Chardonnay. Bring them home. Drink them both (with friends). Report back!
