2011 bmw x-5 engine issue question
Hello,
I am new to Bimmerpost and am excited to make my first posting. Unfortunately its not for a good reason. My wife has a 2011 BMW X-5 with 180,000 miles on it that is honestly one of the best driving and handling cars I have ever owned We love it. It's big enough inside but has a small signature outside making it easy to park.We have a reliable mechanic that has handled most all repairs. Recently we received a warning saying "engine operating at reduced output - Possible to continue". I towed it and our mechanic said it was the Eccentric Shaft and Server Motor. We love the car and want to keep driving it but not sure if repairing this is the best option. Does anybody have an opinion regarding this issue and this possible repair or any idea if this warning could be a sensor or something else that could be repaired without the expected $5,000 cost for those two parts? Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
