Does anyone have experience with getting custom touch-up paint for wheels? Is this an option at auto body shops? It doesn't have to be perfect, just want to make it less noticeable.

Any insight is appreciated!

Hi as some of you are aware (or are becoming aware), the Android App has been on its death bed for some time. This is because we cannot submit to the Google Play store anymore (not due to anything bad per se, but that we cannot comply with some of the rules / regs of the Play Store).

With that said a lot of people have been asking me to release the APK directly. I’m still hesitant to do this and so I might just pull it at any time. With that said, if anyone is interested in directly downloading the APK from me and installing it directly just drop me a PM and I can provide it to you.

Keep in mind if you do this I cannot give you any guarantees it works on your device (the play store does that kind of compatibility check which is a big benefit of the store) and I also cannot guarantee it will work forever since like I mention I might have to pull it again if I notice any security issues with it.

Also if you do install it directly THERE IS NO GOING BACK. Since its not available in the play store anymore, if you delete that and replace with this one and then I pull it at a later time then that’s that.

I’m really truly sorry it has to be like this, but I’m not sure if I want to release the app like this, but a few of you have mentioned you don’t care and just want to use the newest *functional* version so that’s what I’m offering here. Just send me a PM/DM. I’m still working on some late minute details to make sure it functions correctly in this weird form so I might not reply immediately

Hello everyone, dear experts.

Initial situation

For quite some time, I had planned to replace the timing chain. I have now done that, but a problem occurred that I cannot resolve.

The timing chain was replaced, all timing marks were set correctly and checked multiple times. Everything was aligned properly. After that, I fully reassembled the engine: all sensors connected, everything mounted correctly.

Nevertheless, the engine no longer starts.

First diagnosis

After the unsuccessful start attempt, I connected ISTA to check for faults. My first thought was an air-bleeding issue or something similar.

Yes, bleeding is generally required, but according to ISTA, 0 diesel pressure is reaching the fuel rail.

Step-by-step troubleshooting

I then continued checking systematically:

Checked the high-pressure fuel pump
Checked the pressure control valve / IMV
Inspected everything related to the fuel system

After that, I also checked all fuses, because an incident had occurred earlier:

During reassembly, a battery charger was connected. I wanted to tighten an engine mount nut using a long wrench, and the wrench accidentally touched something and caused a short circuit.

The vehicle was switched off at the time, so I initially assumed it could not cause any issues. Nevertheless, to be safe, I checked all fuses — no faults found.

Low-pressure (pre-supply) fuel pump check

Next, I checked whether diesel was being delivered at all.

Normally, during bleeding via ISTA or when switching on the ignition, you can hear the low-pressure fuel pump at the rear of the vehicle.

However, it was completely silent.

So I supplied the low-pressure pump directly with 12 volts — and it ran perfectly.

After that, I checked the hose at the outlet of the fuel filter:
➡️ Absolutely no fuel came out, not even a small flow.

This made it clear:
The low-pressure pump is mechanically fine, but it is not receiving a control signal to activate.

EKPM check

My next suspicion was the EKPM (fuel pump control module). I thought it might have been damaged by the short circuit.

Ordered a new EKPM
Installed it

➡️ No change — still no fuel delivery.

Sensors / Crankshaft position sensor

The crankshaft position sensor (CKP) is connected. I even removed and checked it again.

Installed correctly
Properly secured with the bolt
Installation depth appears correct

So far, everything I can think of has been checked.

Current status & open questions

The only remaining assumption from others is the following:

The DDE is not sending a signal to the EKPM to activate the low-pressure fuel pump.

My questions are:

What could be blocking the DDE?
Why is the signal not being released?
What might I have overlooked?
Has anyone experienced a similar situation after a timing chain replacement?

I have reached a point where everything seems to be checked, but the issue remains unresolved.

Thank you in advance for any helpful ideas.

Build:
826M Bicolor Black (19/20)
Carbon Ceramic Brakes (gold)
Carbon Bucket Seats
Executive Package
Parking Assistance Package
M Driver’s Package
M Drive Professional

MSRP: $114,300

Planned setup at port or after delivery:

- M Performance HAS (leaning conservative/mid drop)
- Spacers (thinking ~10–12mm F / 12–15mm R)
- OEM carbon front lip
- Full PPF + ceramic

Debating / open questions:

1. Stick with 826M 19/20 vs switch to 1000M 20/21 (black or bronze?)

2. For those with HAS—what drop did you land on for daily use with a front lip? Trying to minimize scrapes

3. Any regrets on ceramics for a mostly street-driven car?

Goal:
Clean, OEM+ daily. Not flashy, but still feels special.

Appreciate any thoughts / feedback / things you’d change!

So i picked up a 2024 m440i with 44k on it. It looks great, but it has the spider web looking swirls in the clear, not bad, but they are there. The front has a bit of road debris thats nicked the paint. Its not so bad that its obvious unless you get down and inspect. The hood has a couple tiny dots that have been hit with touch up but not great, as you can tell it.

I know its really too late for ppf unless you go and get all that fixed, but i prefer to spend money on performance mods, so expensive paint repairs are prob not gonna happen.

I thought about doing ppf but read that it all needs to be repaired and painted first.

How many of you are not running any sort of PPF? How does your vehicle look? Any tips or tricks to keep it looking good for those who go non ppf.

Also, for light clear coat spider web rings, what would be the best process for that? Otherwise the paint looks great really.

Oh, and some parts of the car have like tiny copperish colored parts kind of stuck in the clear. I tried clay, and it would get some but it would take a lot of work. Is there a product that gets rid of all of that?
