New E39 Owner

Hi guys

I have just bought a 1998 E39 523i.

I currently own a 2012 1 series but I am going to be using this 5 series as a rally car to drive from Edinburgh to Rome next year.

The car is currently off the road as it needs a new MOT and Tax to allow it to go on the UK roads.

I have noticed 2 parts that need looked at, I have a rust hole about 2 inces diameter in the sill below the rear door on the sill - can this just be repaired or do I need to go and get a whole new sill.

The wheel arch is rusted on the other side - again i think I am just going to treat and repair.

I also have the traction control light on, I have't had much time to look at that but I suspect is will be a sensor. The car has only done 77k miles so I am hoping that it won't be much else.

Do I need to look at anything else?

Ive had a few BMW's over the years and have to say that the quality on this one I have picked up is much better than my 2012! :-)
