Arrow MY2017 BMW NA Production Schedule. M3, M4, 4, 6, 7 Series Ending Early in February

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
We now have the full MY2017 BMW NA production schedule (see below). And there are a number of interesting facts revealed by the dates.
  • The 60Ah i3 ends production early, signifying it is going out of production permanently, leaving just the new 94Ah and 94Ah REx models.

  • The MY2017 2 Series and M2 end production in June 2017. This means that their LCI, which we know from prior information comes at the start of MY2018, will be from July 2017.

  • The MY2017 4 Series and M4 end production in February 2017. This means that their LCI, which we know from prior information comes at the start of MY2018, will be from March 2017.

  • The MY2017 M3 also ends production in February. This can only be for one reason: it will get the new 4/M4 LCI headlights. However, late breaking information from BMW NA has revealed that they will not start production of MY2018 until July. This means there will be a four month gap in production from the end of MY2017 to the beginning of MY2018.

See this thread for more discussion on this delay: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...9#post20952809

  • The MY2017 F07 5 Series GT is ending production in February, while at the same time prior intel suggests this model will end production permanently in 6/17. Since it is unlikely there will be a short run of MY2018 models from March to June, BMW has apparently decided to end it early, leaving a small gap in production before its 6 Series GT successor debuts.

  • The X3 28d is listed as only being in production for one month. This could be an error. Stay tuned on that. Meanwhile all other X3 models will have a very long, 17 month MY2017 before the F25 bows out for good in July and the new G01 comes online in August.
All other models appear to be facing routine model year change-overs.

Note that this schedule does not cover new models not yet introduced for MY2017, which we know include the G30 530e and M550i in March.

interesting! Why stopping M3/M4 for a couple of months before??

weird that I still feel the M2 is brand new and it's too early for LCI!

thanks for sharing!

BMWs LCI process is A strange thing just remember the e90 M3 was released model year 2008 LCI'd the next model year in 2009

The f22 chassis has been out since early 2014 I guess since the F22 2 series gets LCI'd might as well do the F87 m2 while they are at it its the same stuff most likely.

Im excited for new lights I will most definitely get & the good thing is since its A single tail light on each side unlike most other bmws with 2 inner 2 outer lights the LCI retrofit much cheaper , hence e82 retrofit compared to e92 lci which I did on my e92

So this means the M3 will get standard LED headlights now and HID will be gone?

What's the soonest one can get a car delivered on the west coast of the U.S for a MY 18 that's produced in July?

My guess would be about 6 months or before the new year? Will be finishing the car right around the holidays. I dunno about that..I'd rather have a car that's finished in the fall. I imagine dealerships will fill those July orders quickly because BMW will probably limit production with the 4 month gap.

Huh?? No dude, I am getting an M2 (no production gap)
I'm just asking if a get a MY 18 that's produced in July, how long before I see the car on the west coast.

My current M235 ends in June and I'm trying to figure out if there's a way I can wait for an LCI MY18

Does anyone know if the 6 will get an update to the white graphics on the air con display? It must be about the only model left with orange graphics still. Or any other changes at all?

So let's say I order an M4 in March 2017. Does that mean it won't actually start production until July?!

Why are you calling the i01 an LCI? They only gave it a larger battery pack. When the e90 went from 325i/330i (2006) to 328i/335i (2007) it was not an LCI, it was just an engine upgrade. I suspect we will see an LCI i01 for MY2018 with refreshed front and rear facias and other tweaks.

I dont understand how they can have a 4 month break in production? how can they afford to leave lots without inventory for a few months? Feel like there is an additional piece of the puzzle missing.

Besides the production dates, is there any solid intel to indicate that the F80 will get the 4 LCI headlights this time around? Because the previous e46 M3 and e90 M3 both retained their original headlights even though the 3 series sedan/coupe received revised headlights. So why would BMW change now? Have any F82 LCI mules been spotted with new headlights to date?

Damn. I was hoping to do an ED of a 4GC in June/July 2017. Does this mean doing an ED of a 4GC of either MY2017 or MY2018 would be impossible for July 2017?

I am in Toronto and it took 6 weeks from the time my M2 finished production in May to when it was delivered to my dealer in June. You are probably looking at an additional two weeks for your car to get to California. So if you get an early July production week, you might get the car by the end of August or early September.
