F52 1 Series Sedan Now Also Available in Mexico

Some of you might be curious to know that the FWD F52 1 Series sedan, previously sold only in China, is now available in Mexico. You can look at the configurator here:

If it fits a persons price range I could see it being viable. Not me though, this thing doesn't have the same qualities that caused me to want a 1 series.

id drive a fwd Chicago area commuter BMW if it leases out $275mo 10k/yr 1st and plates due at sign. as long as it doesn't have the honda or toyota rear end bump hop otherwise I'd get a Acura ILX.

Put a hatch on it and there's your 2 Series GC that we'll get in the US in a year or so.

Calling this new car the 1-series is an insult to the E82. I also had a 128i M Sport, what an awesome car.

No worse than a A3/A1

Naming is naming, 0 or .5 series would sound strange

I hope these FWD/AWD don't come to the US. It would dilute the company's focus from the 2 series, which is RWD/AWD. If they do bring any 1 series, I hope they bring the hatch RWD.

The FWD/AWD X1 and X2 are already sold here, and the F44 2 Series GC is coming soon.

The F20 1 Series hatchback is in its final year of production. It will be replaced by what will essentially be a hatchback version of the car in the OP.

I have no problems X1 and X2 being FWD/AWD. What is kind of sad is seeing the 1 series losing its sporty soul.

The new 1er actually breaks the mold from the current F20 in. Terms of interior quality and style heavily influenced by the new generation of BMW models . It's not a Hatch of the F52 as F52 will be replaced by a new sedan version as it is a short-life model originally for China but beginning to roll out in other markets now.

For the first time a 2er Gran Coupe will make the transition from a much discussed idea to production reality.

It's design also inherits the new design language such as crisp tight lines. Definition being more organic and the half-squircle headlights and prominent 3-dimensional L shaped tail lights.

It's a highly competitive segment so the 1er head into battle showcasing all the latest BMW attributes and innovations.
It's a good looking Hatch and far more competitive before. The interesting thing is the X2 raised Hatch is helping to sustain 1er sales with customers migrating to the X2 as well as the Active Tourer.

Will the 2er stay RWD? the smallest BMWs are the only remote link left to BMW's glorious performance coupe and sedan past as the rest of the lineup has shed that heritage. I certainly hope the 2-series is staying RWD? The Gran Coupe, included?

Sounds promising. The F52 looks OK but especially the interior is a bit bland. The F40 needs to be better to compete with the other German hatches.

BMW 1-Series Sedan Arrives In North America With Two Turbo Engines

I didn't see a sub forum for the F52. So I'm gussing this is the right place to post.

Quote:
When BMW unveiled the 1-Series sedan in 2016, the company said the car was “tailored specifically to meet the needs of Chinese customers” and would be “offered exclusively for the Chinese automotive market.” BMW has apparently had a change of heart as the car is now available in Mexico.

Priced from $489,900 MXN ($24,607 / €21,106), the 1-Series sedan is $45,000 MXN ($2,260 / €1,938) more affordable than the 3-Series. Unfortunately, its specifications aren’t too impressive as the entry-level 118iA has a 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder engine that produces 136 hp (101 kW / 138 PS) and 162 lb-ft (220 Nm) of torque. The engine is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the front wheel. This setup enables the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 9.4 seconds before hitting a top speed of 131 mph (212 km/h).

While the car isn’t fast, it does come reasonably well equipped as drivers will find a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, Sensatec upholstery and a dual-zone automatic climate control system. The car also has LED daytime running lights, rain sensing wipers and 17-inch alloy wheels. Other highlights include front sport seats and an infotainment system with a 6.5-inch display.

Moving up to the $569,900 MXN ($28,655 / €24,553) 120iA sedan rewards buyers with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine developing 192 hp (143 kW / 195 PS) and 206 lb-ft (280 Nm) of torque. Thanks to the additional power and a more advanced eight-speed automatic transmission, the car runs from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 7.5 seconds and has a limited top speed of 146 mph (235 km/h).

Besides the larger engine, the 120iA features additional equipment including a panoramic glass roof, a split-folding rear seat and LED headlights.

There’s no word on whether or not the 1-Series Sedan will be offered in additional markets but it seems possible if the model proves successful in Mexico. That remains to be seen but BMW says the car has the best driving comfort in its segment as well as a distinctive combination of style and elegance.
