Question 2 Fault Codes - What do they mean?

Hi,

I have a couple fault codes on my 2003 BMW 530i, herewith the details,

1. GS 8.60.4
01 > 48 (0x30) Converter lockup clutch, excessive slip (P0740-41)

2. MS 43 M54
01 > 227 (0xE3) Ox. sensor control deviation, bank 1 too large
01 > 228 (0xE3) Ox. sensor control deviation, bank 2 too large

Can anyone give me (avg Joe) an English explanation to the above and maybe what I'm looking at to get those repaired?

Any help will be much appreciated...
Tks,
C
