At&t vs Tmobile

Does anyone have experience with Tmobile as a network? I have At&T but the prices are getting sky high for family plans and Tmobile has some solid deals now. Is T-mobile's data / network as good as At&t now? The overseas data and text is a huge plus as well.

thanks

It all depends on the coverage. I add AT&T and switched to Tmobile because of the same reason, cost. It was good but I had like no service at home and at work. I ended up going to Verizon because I got all new iphones for the family for "free". Its more pricy but its worth it. Also I go to Canada a lot so with Verizon I can use it just like in the states.

Was with AT&T for almost 20 years. Recently switched to Tmobile. The difference is noticeable. I barely get any signal at work and we sit next to windows. In downtowns i also get no signal. Can’t even send a text. It’s fine for the most part But sometimes I wish we had stuck with AT&T. Good thing about Tmobile is that it’s cheaper and offers unlimited data when traveling abroad like Europe. This past trip we didn’t have to pay for data in 5 different countries.

It really depends on your area and who has the best coverage. I have AT&T and they suck. High cost for what little service I get. I found the best one for my area coverage-wise to be Verizon since a lot of my friends have it.

Your results will vary depending on where you are. Your best bet is to ask people in your area and where you work about what they use and what their coverage is like. I switched from T-Mobile to AT&T to Verizon then back to T-Mobile without noticing much of a difference in coverage but the same cannot be said for you.

Depends on your area, in my case (Chicago burbs) ATT and TMobile are pretty much the same, but if you travel in states ATT is slightly better than Tmobile. If you want the best coverage I think it is Verizon, but they are the most costly as well.

I've had both and tmobile in the Houston area is on par with AT&T if not better. Probably worth asking in the regional forums

I had AT&T for 12 years and switched to T-Mobile last month. Why? Cost. I lowered my bill by ~$53/month for the same plan. At this point, the major carriers are essentially providing the same service. There is some nuance but IMHO there isn't one that's head and shoulders above the rest. I have noticed no discernible difference between AT&T and T-Mobile from a service perspective. I can also throw in Verizon as they're the carrier for my work phone.

I've been with T-Mo since '01. Works almost everywhere except for where I work. lol

Not sure how it is in Miami, but I've been pretty happy with them.

My company left AT&T for T-Mobile to save some money last year. We just went back to AT&T. The service just wasn't as good with T-Mobile. Was worth the $$$ savings to have dropped calls and mediocre coverage.

You should talk to people who actually use cell phones in the same places you need one.

In my area, every carrier except Verizon is worthless at the courthouse, which is where I spend most working days.

I think i will do a simple test, I have an unlocked iphone and can just buy a prepaid 5gb card and do my own testing for a few days.

I had at&t and loved the service. Switched to tmobile due to the cost of at&t and I no longer had service in the crappers at work so I switched to sprint

Sprints customer service sucks but their coverage is better than tmobile.

sprint is the lowest scoring service in the nation on virtually every test, i can confirm this fact with a friend of mine that has sprint, he neither has service half the time nor do text messages go through to him

I had AT&T for about 15 years, I just switched to T-Mobile last year and haven't looked back. They are hands down way cheaper and have much better service, at least where I live.

From my experience tmobile is fine around metropolitan cities. Once you go into the suburbs is where T-Mobile takes a dump.

I have Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T service. Sprint is for my own personal cell service. Verizon is for mobile data which I use primarily for work but pay personally for. AT&T is my work furnished cell. My company also provides T-Mobile as another cell carrier.

I can say in my area if I were paying AT&T rates for the service I receive, I'd be majorly pissed. Some of the issues I've run into. There's an area where I frequent. There's a bloody cell tower in the parking lot next to this place. My phone indicates 4G LTE service with near full bars. Yet, when I place a call, people can hear me clearly but I can't hear squat from their end. Driving along a certain section of a major highway, I would consistently get dropped calls. Sitting at a Panera with a coworker, I get phone calls but my coworker gets a notification about a voice mail but never actually received a call. No thanks. I'm glad I was able to try out AT&T service for free and realize how piss poor it is for the money spent.

With Verizon, I usually get very good coverage but don't want to pay the price premium that comes with it. So the mobile hot spot is fine for me for now.

Sprint, well it's Sprint. I know all about the pit falls of Sprint service but I'm not paying AT&T prices to get the same crappy service.

T-Mobile. The coworkers in my area with this service through our employer constantly complain about coverage issues and have gone through hoops with our management to get switched over to AT&T.

Its very simple...

Verizon you will have the best coverage for a excessive high cost...

You want to sacrifice coverage and pay less go with T-mobile.

Sprint sucks and ATT as well... these have 2 issues... high prices and bad coverage...

I have never had an issue with At&t service. I have had a serious issue with the price they are asking for their service... albeit, my dad has issues at his place with At&t.
