New Touring

Just picked up a well maintained '01525it with an automatic 180k on the clock.
Owned by a family member retired Bimmer tech. Maintenance by the book but no more.
How's the longevity of these autos? I believe it to be the ZF by the build date of 7/01. The torque converter seems to hunt a bit at certain speeds.
