Hey Guys and Girls,
Just thought I would introduce myself to the 5post.com forum. I am from the Chicago area and currently attend Northern Illinois University. I drive a 2000 Silver E39 528i as my project car and a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.2 V8 as my daily driver. The E39 has currently 86,135 miles, I bought the car with 64,300. I have had the car since I was 15 and I am now 19. I have used this car as a daily driver since I got my drivers license but now have turned it into a project car only driving it a few days a week or when the sun is out. The car has had all BMW maintenance up to date with all service records since mile 1. The car was put on the Dyno a few months ago and had 197.3HP to the rear wheels with 237HP to the crank. Here are some of the modifications that I have done so far, Exterior: DDM tuning Front and Rear ///M Sport Bumpers BMW M5 Brake Cooling Ducts BMW M5 Rear Spoiler BMW OEM ///M Sport Style 66 Wheels (Staggered) BMW Wheel Locks BMW ///M Valve Stem Caps BMW Chrome Plate Frame Magnaflow 14186 Muffler Y- Resonator Delete Custom LED City Lights Hella LED Rear Tail Lights European Headlight Lenses Clear Side Markers Custom Illinois Plate Number ( BMW E 39 ) LED License Plate Lights LED Reverse Lights 35% Window Tint Racing Dynamics Front Stress Bar Interior: ///M Dead Pedal BMW Black All Weather Floor Mats LED Interior Lights Hardwired Passport 8500X (Blue) Radar BMW European Warning Triangle (Made For Tool Box In Trunk) BMW Spare Tire Storage Tray Suction cups Mount Front Plate In Windshield Future Modifications To Come: BMW ///M Door Impact Strips Black Kidney Grills BC Coilovers, H and R Coilovers or B and G lowering springs with Koni Shocks (still deciding) Painted/ Wrapped Interior Wood Trim Vorsteiner GTR Hood (Painted Body color) Dinan Cold Air intake H and R Wheel Spacers Front and Rear Alpine Speakers HID 8k Fog Lights Any Ideas and comments are welcomed!!!! Thanks Everyone |

Very nice. I've restored the running gear (suspension, brakes, etc) on my 528, but haven't yet done anything to the motor. I notice you've modified yours, and your horsepower specs certainly are an improvement over stock. What did you do so far? I'm considering a re-program ECU update (like an ESS) but hesitate as hp gains don't seem that stellar, given the already tweaked (in my opinion) nature of the 528 in-line 6.

The only performance things that i have completed on the car so far are the simple air intake that you see under the hood on the right side as a temp until i get my dinan cold air intake and just a Y-Resonator delete and a magnaflow muffler on the rear. As for performance ECU chips and sofrware none have been added as of yet. I am looking at shark injector software, Dinan performance software. All of the HP numbers are just based mainly on the few modifications that i have listed above and keeping up with all of the service on the engine that needs to be completed when BMW and my IND tell me to do so.
